Hello, my Blue Magnolia brides! We're kicking off our Vendor Spotlight series with a sweet surprise! Today I’m highlighting an awesome wedding vendor that is based out of Columbia, Missouri, Dough X Batter.

A wedding without a caterer is little more than a gathering of friends and family. In other words, your wedding baker is integral to the success of your wedding. Your guests want to dance, take pictures, and be merry with you, but your guests should never be in need of food or, in the worst-case scenario, be hungry. They should never have a bad experience with the food at your wedding.

Laura is an incredible baker that provides a variety of delicious cakes and other sweet treats for couples and guests at many weddings. I interviewed her for today’s blog post – and of course, there are plenty of mouth-watering, craving-inducing photos to go alongside!

HOW DID YOU START YOUR BUSINESS?

Hi, I’m Laura! I am the owner and baker at Dough X Batter, an eco-conscious cottage bakery specializing in custom and classic bakes.

The bakery has officially been operating since July of 2023 out of Cherry Hill in Columbia, but the prototype of my business started during the pandemic while I was living in New York City. Baking was always a hobby and side hustle, but when I wanted to connect with loved ones during quarantine I started to make and send baked goods. Once the images were posted online, the demand for my product began.


WHAT MAKES YOUR COMPANY DIFFERENT THAN OTHER BAKERS IN THE AREA?

I always say that baked goods are a tangible source of joy, they just have a little bit of magic that sometimes can even trigger the happiest of memories. What Dough X Batter provides is a personalized experience where you get to design your ideal baked goods - even if you don't know anything about baking. I will help your vision come to life, it will be beautiful and it will taste delicious! Though I am known for intricately decorated sugar cookies for all kinds of events, I also specialize in individually portioned pastries such as scones and muffins, which I offer in bundles for holidays and events, and in the Spring of 2024, I will offer “day-of brunch boxes” for wedding parties.

 

DO YOU USE "NATURAL" & ORGANIC INGREDIENTS?

The terms "organic" & "natural" have very little regulation. I do my best to source good quality ingredients to make all my recipes. When possible, I incorporate locally sourced ingredients, always look for fair trade, support producer or business using solar power, and regenerative agriculture, or follows sustainable practices. I do not use "natural" food coloring or dyes. All ingredients used to make treats are edible and approved for consumption.
